Sand Rock boys finish first in Class 2A, Section 4 track and field meet

GUNTERSVILLE – The Sand Rock Wildcat boys track and field team won the program’s first sectional meet since 2005 over the weekend in the Class 2A, Section 4 meet in Guntersville.

The Wildcats earned a total of 116 points to finish 15 points ahead of runner-up Section, which earned 101 points. Falkville finished third with 68 points.

The Lady Wildcats tied for seventh with Locust Fork. Both teams earned 33 points. Whitesburg Christian claimed first place with 156 points, followed by Falkville with 105 points. St. Bernard was third with 59 points.

In the boys events, Ben Dale delivered a pair of first-place performances in the 400 meter (51.32) and the 800 meter (2:06.21).

Hunter Privett finished first in the 110 meter hurdles (17.40). He was also second in the 300 meter hurdles (43.56) and fourth in the long jump (19-04.00).

Jack Watson took first in the 200 meter hurdles (41.73). He was also fifth in the 400 meter (54.74).

The Wildcat boys also had first-place finishes in the 4×400 relay(3:35.29) and the 4×800 relay (9:11.81). The 4×100 team took fourth with a time of 45.99

Caleb Yoder came in third in the 800 meter (2:15.59). He was also 10th in the 1600 meter (5:28.06) and 13th in the triple jump (35-04.5).

Austin Yoder finished fourth in the 400 meter (54.50).

Ben Bruce was fourth in the 800 meter (2:16.57). He was also sixth in the 1600 meter (5:20.69).

Bryan East earned fifth place in the discus (118-05). He was also fifth in the javelin

(124-03) and 20th in the shot put (35-06.00).

Gunner Cox came in sixth in the 300 meter hurdles (48.00). He was also seventh in the 110 meter hurdles (20.47) and 22nd in the 200 meter dash (25.97).

Gatlin Cox earned eighth in the 110 meter hurdles (21.11). He was also 17th in the triple jump (33-03).

Tru Graham came in eighth in the 200 meter (24.13).

Everett DeBoard delivered a ninth-place performance in the triple jump (37-02). He was also 14th in the long jump (17-06.5).

Seth Holland and Hugh Moore were 15th and 18th respectively in the discus. Holland’s throw was 87-08 while Moore’s was 83-11. Moore was also 21st in the shot put (35-06.00)

Jed Cunningham came in 19th in the 1600 meter (5:54.82). Hunter Watson was 20th in the javelin (100-08), while Nathan Haygood was 24th (83-06).

Tristen Adkins was also 24th in the shot put (32-07.00). Austin Daniell finished 32nd in the 200 meter dash (28.84).

In the girls events, Brylaina Holcomb earned second place in the javelin (126-07). She was also ninth in the long jump (13-03).

The Lady Wildcats 4×400 relay team took third with a time of 4:41.85. The 4×100 team finished fifth with a time of 56.36.

Katelin Stiefel claimed fifth in the 800 meter (2:41.79). She was also seventh in the 1600 meter (6:10.55).

Natalie Lawless finished fifth in the shot put (27-05.00).

Madison Camp came in sixth in the discus (84-06). She was also seventh in the javelin (91-01) and ninth in the shot put (26-08.00).

Ensley Callantine collected a 10th-place showing in the 300 meter hurdles (59.79), 12th in the 100 meter hurdles (21.22) and 16th in the 800 meter (2:55.08).

Alora Eaton earned 11th in the 100 meter hurdles (21.17). She was also 19th in the long jump (11-11).

KoKo Graham came in 13th in the 400 meter (1:12.65). She was also 14th in the 100 meter dash (14.99).

Lydia East earned 13th in the shot put (24-11.00).

Harlie Williams was 17th in the discus (65-00). She was also 20th in the javelin (63-09).

Destiny Daniell came in 19th in the 100 meter dash (15.36). She was also 23rd in the 200 meter dash (32.44).

Natalie Lawless finished 23rd in the discus (56-11) and Haley Cash finished 23rd in the long jump (11-6.5).
