Could an Escaped State Inmate Convicted of Murder be Hiding in Cherokee County?

Is it possible an escaped state inmate serving a 99 year sentence for murder could be here in Cherokee County?

Authorities are still looking for David Kyle – who walked away from a work detail on Saturday about 5:15pm – he was an inmate at Red Eagle Work Center in Montgomery after being convicted of a murder in Etowah County back in April of 2000.  Kyle, age 49, has local ties – having grown up in the Slackland area.  Monday morning Cherokee County Chief Deputy Josh Summerford informed WEIS Radio that Cherokee and Etowah County law enforcement officials are on heightened alert.

Kyle is a black male, five-feet-eleven inches tall (5’11”), weighing around 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.   Anyone with information on Kyle’s current whereabouts should either dial 9-1-1 OR call the Sheriff’s Office at (256) 927-3365.

It is recommended you DO NOT approach him – but instead, contact law enforcement immediately.
