Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and Sheriff’s Office investigators are still looking for a person of interest in connection with a murder that took place in March, outside of Centre. 

The individual wanted for questioning is 38 year-old Nick Silvers.   He is a resident of Cherokee County and was known to be in the area recently.   If anyone has information in regard to Silvers’ whereabouts they are urged to contact Chief Investigator Tony Monroy at (256) 927-3365 or (256) 557-5466.   You may also submit information anonymously, using the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office website at www.cherokeecountyalsheriff.com/crime-tips.  According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, Eric K. Hooper, 28 of Centre, was placed in the Cherokee County Jail April 14th after being extradited from jail in Polk County, Georgia.  Hooper has been charged with Murder, and is currently being held on bond of $1,500,000

According to Sheriff Shaver, Polk County, Georgia, road crew workers discovered the body of Lachancey Williams, 40 of Cedartown, while doing road work along Esom Hill Road on March 15th.
