Centre Man Jailed on Murder Charge; Second Man Sought for Questioning

A Centre man is being held in the Cherokee County Jail – charged with Murder – and a second man, described as “a person of interest,” is being sought for questioning.

Eric Hooper, age 28, stands charged with Murder, and also Receiving Stolen Property 3rd Degree; according to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford Hooper was extradited from Polk County, Georgia, and placed in the Cherokee County Detention Center Thursday, April 14th – where he is being held on bond of $1,500,000.

He is charged in connection with the homicide of 40 year old Lachancey Williams of a Cedartown, Georgia address.  His body was reportedly found by in a tool box – which was discovered by crews doing road work in Polk County, along Eason Hill Road back on March 15th.

According to a News Release from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, it’s believed the murder actually occurred just outside of Centre.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver and department investigators, are currently seeking help from the public in locating Nick Silvers, age 38, in connection with the case.  He is a resident of Cherokee County – and known to be in the area.  Anyone with information regarding Silvers’ location is urged to call Chief Investigator Tony Monroy at (256) 927-3365 or 256-557-5466.
