Spring Garden baseball tunes up for playoffs with blowout win at Cedar Bluff

CEDAR BLUFF – Gavin Bass went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs in leading the Spring Garden Panthers to a 17-3 win baseball win at Cedar Bluff on Tuesday.

Chaz and Chapel Pope both went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Panthers (14-14). Chaz Pope tripled and also walked, scored twice and had a RBI. Chapel Pope scored a run and drove in three more. Landon Gowens contributed a pair of hits, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Andrew Floyd also added a pair of hits, a walk, two runs and a RBI.

Cam Welsh collected a hit, a walk, two runs and a RBI. Andrew Bates had a hit and scored a run. Connor Bates walked twice, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Andrew Bates earned the win on the mound. He tossed 4 2/3 innings, giving up no earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Spring Garden travels to Falkville for the first round of the Class 2A state playoffs on Friday, with a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m. A third game, if necessary, will be played Saturday at 1 p.m.
