Five-run third inning lifts Cedar Bluff softball past Collinsville

CEDAR BLUFF – The Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers pushed across five runs in the bottom of the third inning, lifting them to a 7-2 softball win over visiting Collinsville on Tuesday.

Mattie Payne led the way for the Lady Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run. Haley Allen added a pair of hits, including a double, with two runs and two RBIs. Jordyn Walker also collected a pair of hits, including a double, with a walk and a run. Natalie Baty went 2-for-4, including a double, with a run and a RBI.

Harlie Nelson had a hit and a run. Reece Patterson and Caitlin Slayton both finished with a hit and a RBI.

Patterson also picked up the win in the circle. She scattered a pair of earned runs on nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Kayla Beene 3-for-4 with a home run for Collinsville. Sophia Wills was also 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

Beene suffered the loss after working 2 2/3 innings. She gave up six earned runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
