According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver a Piedmont man attempted to elude law enforcement officers overnight in the Spring Garden area.
Deputy Jonah Smith observed a car traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to stop the vehicle. He soon recognized the vehicle as one which had managed to elude Piedmont Police just last week.
The driver, Brenton Thompson, wrecked when attempting to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Highway 278 and County Road 126. The suspect was transported by ambulance to an area hospital and will face charges upon his release.
