Cedar Bluff Police Sgt. Laid To Rest

Officers, Paramedics, Firefighters, Rescue Personnel, State Troopers, elected officials, community members, family and friends all gathered on Thursday afternoon as Cedar Bluff Police Department Sgt. Chris Vaughn was laid to rest.

Sgt. Vaughn passed away on April 1st after suffering a medical issue while on duty on Highway 35.

Sgt. Vaughn’s law enforcement career began in 2009, when he joined the Leesburg Police Department before moving to the Cedar Bluff PD in 2015 and achieving the rank of Sgt. He also served as a K-9 Officer.

Cedar Bluff Mayor Tammy Crane stated “The hard work and dedication of Sgt. Vaughn will be greatly missed by his fellow officers and the residents of Cedar Bluff, Sgt. Vaughn worked tirelessly to serve the residents.”

Cedar Bluff Police Chief Brody Moses said “Sgt. Vaughn was an excellent example of law enforcement professional and was highly respected by all other law enforcement in the area,” the department noted. Please keep the family, friends, and co-workers in your prayers.”

Sgt. Vaughn leaves behind his wife Ariel as well as his sons Brayden and Bradley.

He is also survived by his parents Gary and Nancy Vaughn, Brother Nick Vaughn, nephews, nieces, and many friends.

Donations in honor/memory of Sgt. Vaughn can be made to the Chris Vaughn Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Alabama Teachers Credit Union in Centre.
