Burleson’s all-around performance lifts Cedar Bluff over Sylvania

CEDAR BLUFF – Jacob Burleson went 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles, a run and two RBIs. He also earned the win on the mound after working three innings of five-hit ball, giving up just two earned runs with a walk and a pair of strikeouts in the Cedar Bluff Tigers’ 7-2 baseball win over visiting Sylvania on Monday.

Preston Burt added a pair of hits and a pair of runs for the Tigers. Alex Baty also had two hits and scored a run. Hunter and Hagen Stallings both collected a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Eli McFry finished with a hit and scored a run.

Cedar Bluff gave Burleson all the run support he needed in the bottom of the first inning. The Tigers scored four runs in the inning. They added a run in the second and two more in the sixth.

Sylvania scored its lone runs in second and third.

Cedar Bluff travels to Gaylesville to begin an area series on Thursday at 4p.m.
