GLENCOE – The Cedar Bluff softball team won the Glencoe Classic on Saturday. The Lady Tigers defeated Gadsden City 13-0, Boaz 7-0, and Glencoe in the championship game 5-1 to cap a 5-0 tournament that started on Friday.
Natalie Baty tossed a two-hitter in the championship against the host Lady Yellow Jackets, giving up just one earned run with a strikeout. She also had a pair of doubles at the plate with a run and two RBIs.
Haley Allen tripled and drove in a pair of runs. Harlie Nelson doubled and scored a run. Reece Patterson posted a pair of hits, a run and a RBI. Mattie Payne and Jordyn Walker both had a hit and scored a run. Caitlin Slayton finished with a hit.
Against Boaz, Baty homered and drove in a pair of runs. Allen and Payne both doubled. Payne also walked and scored a run. Nelson delivered a pair of hits and a pair of runs. Walker collected a hit, a run and a RBI.
Walker also earned the win in the circle. She tossed four innings of two-hit ball with a walk and three strikeouts. Patterson also worked an inning of no-hit ball with a strikeout.
In the win over Gadsden City, Walker belted out three hits, including a triple, with two runs and a RBI. Nelson also contributed out three hits, drove in two runs and scored twice. Baty doubled, singled, scored three runs and had a RBI. Slayton also had a pair of hits, including a double and a run.
Payne posted a hit, two runs and a RBI. Allen added a hit, a walk, two runs and a RBI. Za’Niya Kyle contributed a hit, a run and a RBI. Haney finished with a hit and a RBI.
Patterson picked up the win. She tossed a one-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts.
