WALNUT GROVE – The Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers split a softball doubleheader at West End on Thursday. They lost the first game 4-3 but rebounded in the nightcap 5-0.
In game one, Mattie Payne led the Lady Tigers at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a triple. Reece Patterson was 2-for-4 with a run. Jordyn Walker went 1-for-4 with a run and a RBI.
Haley Allen doubled. Natalie Baty added a hit and two RBIs. Harlie Nelson had a hit and a run. Emma Haney had a hit.
Baty suffered the tough-luck loss. She gave up two earned runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
In the second game, Haney homered, singled, scored a run and drove in two. Patterson tripled, doubled, walked and scored twice. Allen and Baty both doubled. Baty also scored a run and drove in a pair of runs.
Walker contributed a hit and a run. Payne, Nelson, Za’Niya Kyle and Caitlin Slayton each added a hit. Payne and Slayton also walked.
Walker earned the win in the circle. She scattered six hits and a walk with 15 strikeouts.
