Two Teenagers Hurt in Sylacauga Shooting; Police Investigation On-Going

Sylacauga police are investigating after two teenagers were wounded Tuesday night.

Police Chief Kelley Johnson stated police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Hubbard Avenue about 10:00pm in response to a shots fired call.  At an apartment on Kingwood Drive in the Drew Court housing complex, they found a gunshot victim.  Latarrieus Hawkins, age 18 of Talladega, was suffering from wounds to both his chest and arm. He was transported to UAB Hospital.   Chief Johnson said no information regarding his condition is yet being released.

A few hours later, at around 1:00am, Sylacauga Investigator Chris Vinson was called to Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, where Hawkins’ younger brother, age 16, had been taken for a gunshot to his right ankle.  He was treated and released.
