Motorists should continue to exercise caution as roadways across the area are still at the point where they may be holding water either alongside or in the middle creating hazardous conditions.
At one point prior to daybreak, parts of Park Street in Centre were actually flooded – and according to reports, there was a minor accident overnight, as a vehicle traveling on the Chesnut Bypass hydroplaned and left the road. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Back roads may still be littered with limbs – or made dangerous by downed trees due to high winds and saturated ground left behind by the storm front that made its way through northeast Alabama and northwest Georgia, from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.
Just across the state line in Chattooga County, Georgia, approximately 425 customers were left without power from Spring Creek Road to Highway 100.
Georgia Power crews responded quickly, and within a couple of hours, had service to most homes restored.
We’ve yet to receive any reports of significant property damage – and fortunately, no reports of anyone being hurt.
