SPRING GARDEN – Kayley Kirk went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead the Spring Garden Lady Panthers to a 15-0 softball victory over visiting Gaston in three innings on Monday.
Neely Welsh and Layla Ingram both added a pair of hits, including a triple apiece for the Lady Panthers. Welsh also walked, scored two runs and drove in two. Ingram added a walk, three runs and two RBIs.
Abbie Woods doubled, walked, scored two runs and drove in another. Avery Steward collected a hit, two walks, two runs and a RBI. Madison Brown added a hit, two walks, a run and a RBI. Maggie Jarrett contributed a hit and two walks. Bri Boles managed a hit, a walk and a run. Timi Scoggin walked, scored a run and had a RBI. Abbey Steward walked, scored a run and had two RBIs.
Abbey Steward earned the win after tossing an inning of no-hit ball with a pair of strikeouts. Avery Steward pitched the other two innings. She surrendered a hit and a walk with five strikeouts.
Spring Garden is scheduled to play Cherokee County in the Cherokee County Tournament championship game on Wednesday at Jacksonville State’s University Field. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
