SAND ROCK – Sand Rock scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break open a 4-4 game and pulled away for a 14-4 victory over Gaston to open area baseball action on Monday.
Austin Yoder tripled, walked twice and drove in four runs for the Wildcats. Brian Giles went 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs. Morgan Tucker, Sloan Wood and Cam Gifford each added a hit and a RBI apiece.
Yoder and Sloan Wood combined to give up just three hits. Yoder finished with nine strikeouts.
Sand Rock travels to Gaston to complete the series on Thursday.
