Early offensive outburst helps Cedar Bluff softball down Sylvania

SYLVANIA – Cedar Bluff scored nine first-inning runs and added at least a run for the next four innings in a 15-9 softball win at Sylvania on Monday.

Jordyn Walker and Mattie Payne led the Lady Tigers with three hits apiece. Walker scored a run and drove in four. Payne doubled, walked, scored three runs and had two RBIs. Reece Patterson homered, doubled, scored twice and drove in a run. Zaniya Kyle homered, walked, scored two runs and had two RBIs.

Haley Allen added a hit, a walk, a run and three RBIs. Natalie Baty doubled, walked twice and scored a run. Harlie Nelson contributed a hit, a walk, two runs and a RBI. Caitlin Slayton had a hit, a walk and two runs. Emma Haney finished with a hit, a run and a RBI.

Baty earned the win in the circle. She surrendered one earned run on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Cedar Bluff is scheduled to host Collinsville on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
