Cherokee County Softball Tournament championship game rained out

SAND ROCK – The Cherokee County Softball Tournament championship game between Spring Garden and Cherokee County was rained out on Friday night. A makeup date has yet to be determined.

The two teams met earlier in winners bracket action on Friday. Cherokee County took an early three-run lead, but Spring Garden battled back to tie things up with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored the winning run in the sixth to take a 4-3 victory.

Kayley Kirk and Abbie Woods led the Lady Panthers at the plate. Both went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Kirk also scored a run.

Madison Brown added a double and two RBIs. Neely Welsh contributed a hit, a run and a RBI. Maggie Jarrett had a hit and a RBI. Layla Ingram and Bri Boles both went 1-for-3. Abbey Steward earned a walk.

Steward also earned the win after working six innings. She gave up three earned runs on seven hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts.

Sand Rock 5, Cedar Bluff 1

SAND ROCK – Jadyn Foster tossed a one-hitter through five innings. She also surrendered a walk with six strikeouts in Sand Rock’s 5-1 victory over Cedar Bluff.

Foster also led the Lady Wildcats at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs.

Aliyah King 2-for-2 with a double. Katelyn StClair 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run. Rylin StClair 1-for-3 with a run and a RBI. EllaGrace Hood 1-for-3 with a RBI. Sherina Foster and Emma Sipsy both drew a walk.

Reece Patterson doubled and drove in Cedar Bluff’s lone run. She also walked. Jordyn Walker suffered the loss after working three inning. She gave up four earned runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Cherokee County 10, Sand Rock 9

SAND ROCK – Abby Lea blasted a 3-run homer to tie the game, then Carson Coley connected on the game-winning homer to lift Cherokee County to a 10-9 victory over Sand Rock.

Coley went 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs and a RBI. Lea added a pair of hits with two runs and four RBIs. Auburn Mullins went 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Audrey Haygood was also 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI.

Lanie Williams and Raechel Russell both contributed a hit and a RBI. Anna Walker belted a double. Karlee Jolly walked and scored a run. Emma Hill also walked.

Hill earned the win after finishing with 10 strikeouts.

Hood suffered the loss for Sand Rock. She finished with five strikeouts. She also had a pair of doubles, a run and four RBIs at the plate.

Katelyn StClair went 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs and a RBI. Briley Knight was also 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Jadyn Foster also had a pair of hits with a RBI. Sherina Foster doubled, scored a run and had a RBI. Rylin StClair collected a single, a walk, a run and a RBI. King finished with a walk and scored a run.
