Leesburg Town Council Meeting For Monday March, 7th, 2022

The Leesburg Police Department recently hired former Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Walker as a full-time Police Officer. Leesburg Police Chief Jamie Chatman said that the town will be sending Officer Walker to a Narcotics Class in Tennessee.

Recently, Officer Walker was sworn in by Cherokee County Probate Judge Tim Burgess

In other business, the Council approved minutes from the previous meetings in addition to receiving the previous expenditures.

New By-Laws for the fire department were also approved.

Officer Hunter Brisendine informed the council that the department will be purchasing a street zone trailer in the amount of $4,000 to monitor the speed limit.

The council also approved the hiring of Aubrey Itson as a part-time employee in the front office on an as needed basis.

There was also some discussion of constructing a pavilion and a weigh-in station at the Leesburg Landing.

The purchase of two fans for the bath houses at the landing was also approved.
