Cherokee County baseball, softball tournaments begin on Thursday

SAND ROCK – The Cherokee County baseball and softball tournaments, both scheduled for this weekend at Sand Rock, have been moved up due to inclement weather in the forecast.

Both tournaments now begin on Thursday.

In the baseball tournament on Thursday, Cedar Bluff will battle Gaylesville at 4 p.m., followed by Cherokee County and Sand Rock at 6:30 p.m.

The winner of the Cedar Bluff-Gaylesville game will take on Spring Garden on Friday at 4 p.m. The Cherokee County Baseball Tournament championship game follows at 6:30 p.m.

If the tournament is rained out, teams will play on Thursday, March 31 and Friday, April 1 with the same set up.

The double-elimination Cherokee County Softball Tournament also begins Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with Cedar Bluff taking on Gaylesville. Sand Rock battles Spring Garden at 5 p.m., followed by Cherokee County taking on the winner of Cedar Bluff-Gaylesville at 6:30 p.m. Thursday’s action concludes with the Cedar Bluff-Gaylesville loser against the loser of Sand Rock-Spring Garden at 8 p.m.

The tournament continues throughout the day on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m., with the championship game set for 8 p.m. An if-necessary game will follow at 9:30 p.m.
