Gadsden Grandmother Charged With Abusing Infant

A 75 year old grandmother is behind bars in Etowah County – charged with harming an infant girl.

Gadsden Police say Wanda Lee Crouch stands charged with Aggravated Child Abuse – after the child (who lived with her) suffered an injury around February 18th or 19th.

Police say the infant (who is only four months old) was hurt when Crouch “struck her head against the wall”, and then failed to call for medical help.

The victim was reportedly evaluated at an area hospital then placed in the custody of DHR case workers in Mississippi.

Crouch remains in the Etowah County Detention Center, where her bond has been set at $100,000.  She was booked in at 2:25pm Tuesday (March 1st).
