Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver Receives 2021 Alabama “Sheriff Of The Year” Award

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver received the “Sheriff of the Year” award for 2021, at The Alabama Sheriff’s Association’s winter business meeting on Tuesday.

The annual award is voted on by Alabama sheriffs each year, and according to Sheriff Derrick Cunningham, outgoing Association President, the vote for Sheriff Shaver was unanimous.

Cherokee County Chief Deputy Josh Summerford also shared his thoughts saying “the Sheriff is well-deserving of this award.  Probably his greatest quality is that he cares so much for people, no matter who they are.  I am grateful for his steady leadership, mentorship and friendship.”

And Sheriff Shaver summed it up like this saying – “I am very honored to receive this, I would not have received this award if it were not for team of people in our Sheriff’s Office – and this award is reflective of the entire Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.”
