Warriors lose heartbreaker to Etowah, 69-66

JACKSONVILLE – Cherokee County lost a season-ending heartbreaker to Etowah in the Class 4A, Area 10 boys basketball tournament on Thursday to Etowah. The Warriors were up by seven with about minute remaining, but the Blue Devils cashed in several turnovers down the stretch to take a 69-66 win.

Jaden Wilson led the Warriors with 22 points. Jack Amos added 17 points. Landon Caldwell collected 12 points and Cade Hopper finished with nine points.

Dee Spears topped Etowah with 25 points. Steven Jones netted 14. Caden Argo finished with 10 points.

Etowah takes on Jacksonville in the area title game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Jacksonville blew past Ashville 109-49 in other semifinal action on Thursday.
