Collinsville girls clinch Class 3A, Area 12 basketball tournament title

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Lady Panthers held off Geraldine 61-56 to clinch the Class 3A, Area 12 girls basketball championship on Thursday.

Tyla Tatum led the Lady Panthers with 23 points. Sophie Wills and Gracie Griggs both netted 11 points. Kayla Beene added eight points and Rylee Tillery finished with six points.

Gracey Johnson sank six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 34 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. JJ Dismuke delivered nine points. Alexis Powell posted eight points. Shelby Trester finished with five points.

Collinsville held a 16-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter and built a 35-26 edge at halftime. Geraldine closed the gap to 42-40 after three quarters, but the Lady Panthers held on down the stretch for the win.

The Lady Panthers will host Area 14 runner-up Plainview in sub-regional action on Monday at 6 p.m.
