Centre Lions Club Hosting Benefit Comedy Show

The Centre Lions Club is hosting a clean comedy show on Saturday, Feb. 19. The 6:30pm event will be held at the ROC. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door on performance night. Tickets are now on sale at the ROC,  Chamber of Commerce, Leesburg Country Store, and Al Shumaker’s office. Payment may be made with cash or check.

Performers for the evening will be John Pate, a Cherokee County native and  graduate of Sand Rock High School, and Rich Natole—a nationally-syndicated comedy radio show host. John  has been a frequent stand-up comedian on cruise ships, at corporate seminars, and in Las Vegas. He is also a published author, and for many years served as the head of the department of communications at California Baptist University.

In addition to his radio show, Rich often performs in Las Vegas. Pate and Natole are sharing the Feb. 19 ticket proceeds 50/50 with the Lions Club. The Lions will use their share of proceeds for eye exams and eyeglasses for students and adults, scholarships, and registration fees for camp for diabetic children. Pate and Natole will use their share of proceeds to help fund production costs for the family film —for which they wrote the screenplay.

FAITH WINS  is the story of a young man’s journey from rags to riches to rags to riches. John wrote the lyrics for the the movie’s theme song. He and Jenny Tolman ( a rising star in Nashville) collaborated on the music.  Filming is complete; an Atlanta firm is now editing the footage. The music will soon be added.

Pate estimates previews will be possible by the end of April.
