Warriors sweep White Plains on senior night

CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors swept visiting White Plains on their basketball senior night. The Warrior boys squeaked out a 42-39 victory, while the Lady Warriors earned a 69-40 win.

In the boys game, Jack Amos led the way with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Landon Caldwell and Braden Chandler both netted six points.

Walker Osteen topped White Plains with 12 points. Cole Senciboy added 10 points and Daniel Bussey finished with nine points.

The Warriors built a 16-8 first-quarter lead, but White Plains cut its deficit to 24-22 at halftime. Cherokee County maintained a two-point edge after three quarters at 30-28 and held on in the fourth for the final.

In the girls game, Audrey Haygood collected 17 points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists to lead the Lady Warriors to victory.

Mary Hayes Johnson contributed 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Emily Allen added 12 points and 10 boards. Ella Garmany managed 11 points and four boards. Carson Coley finished with 10 points, three assists and two steals.
