Sand Rock’s Henderson eclipses 2,000-point barrier in win over Hokes Bluff

SAND ROCK – Sand Rock’s Lanie Henderson scored her 2,000th career point Friday night in the Lady Wildcats’ 60-44 win over visiting Hokes Bluff

Henderson had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Sand Rock (26-4). She is only the second Lady Wildcat behind Taylor Burt to reach the milestone. Henderson sank four treys and finished with four steals and three assists.

Caley Garrett scored 21 points for Sand Rock, including five 3-pointers. She also came away with four steals and two assists. Katelyn StClair  also netted 16 points. She connected on three treys and had five rebounds, four steals and two assists.

In boys action, Jacob StClair netted 25 points and dished out six assists to lead the Sand Rock Wildcats past Hokes Bluff 69-63.

Jacob Cornejo contributed 12 points and 10 boards for the Wildcats (16-13). Kaden Justice added 10 points and eight boards. Bradley Jackson finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

Jordan Presley led Hokes Bluff with 27 points.

The Eagles led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Sand Rock forged ahead at halftime 31-27. The two teams were tied at 43 at the end of three quarters.
