Mr. Robert Walter (R. W.) Baker, 91, of Cave Spring, died Tuesday morning at his residence.
Mr. Baker was born in Cave Spring, July 7, 1930, a son of the late Geat H. Baker and the late Edna Mullinix Baker. Mr. Baker was a graduate of the Cave Spring High School, was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U. S. Army, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cave Spring, and had served on the Cave Spring City Council. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Baker was employed by General Electric of Rome.
Mr. Baker enjoyed fishing, gardening and selling his vegetables to folks in Cave Spring.
Besid his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Baker in 1980, and by his brothers, Norman Baker and Grady Baker, and by his sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Payne, Mrs. Grace Smith, Miss Betty Jean Baker and Miss Willie Mae Baker.
Survivors include his wife, the former Edith Coursey, to whom he was married September 23, 1950; and by two daughters, Jackie Baker and Joni (Tony) Dobbs. Four grandchildren, Jeffery (LeAnna) Morton, Marisa Baert, Braden (Addison) Baert, and Kenzie Canant, and one great-grandson, Sawyer Morton and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Cave Spring with Rev. Jarrod Kinsey officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Nick Noyes, Daryl Watters, Sam Almaroad, Jeff Morton, Pat Myatt, Tom Stinson, Mike Stinson, Mike Stevens and Steve Stevens.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
