Mr. Cecil E. Harrell went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 29th, 2022.
He was born November 13, 1929 to Emmett and Cora Harrell. Cecil joined his wife, Doris, and his sons, Eddie (Leslie) and Ricky (Renee), and numerous family members in Heaven. He is also pre-deceased by his second wife, Wilma Guice Harrell.
Cecil grew up in Jacksonville, Alabama where he met and married Doris. They had three children. In 1966 he moved his family to Mt.Clemens, Michigan where he secured employment with General Motors, Pontiac Motor Division. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Roseville, Michigan. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons. He loved people and was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever necessary.
When Cecil retired from General Motors, he and his wife, Doris, moved to Centre, Alabama. They built a new home and made lots of good friends. Cecil loved to garden and always shared his bounty with friends.
Shortly after Doris passed, he met and married Wilma. He joined Pine Grove Church and was very active, helping with Bible school. He made some wonderful friends there. When Wilma passed, he went to live with his daughter, Sandy, and her husband, Tom.
He enjoyed the weather and friendly neighbors
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Markwood, grandchildren; Joey (Karyn) Harrell, Amy (Barry) Mahoney, Patrick Harrell, Kevin (Kristen) Harrell and James Harrell, step-grandchildren; Nancy (Greg) Gmyrek, Sam(Kelly) Markwood, and Derek (Frankie) Ruggirello, step-sons; Donald (Karen) Money, Stanley (Susan) Money, and Richard (Charlene) Money, brother; Ellis (Elaine) Harrell and sister; Joan Williams. He also had 17 great-grandchildren.
Perry Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 11th from 10 – 11 am at the funeral home. The funeral will take place in the Perry Funeral Home Chapel at 11am, with burial to follow at Cherokee Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
