Logging Equipment Fire Reported off of County Road 114

9-1-1 Dispatchers were notified of what was believed to be a heavy equipment fire in the Watson’s Crossroads area on Tuesday morning in an isolated area off of County Road 114, between 41 and 77 – and nearby residents began witnessing a substantial amount of smoke coming from that general location.

Gaylesville firefighters managed to make it down that logging trail to reportedly find a “cutter” fully on fire. According to information sent to WEIS Radio News, the Cutter was running and cutting wood when it caught fire and the equipment owner called 911.

Cedar Bluff firefighters responded to provide assistance.

An early report indicated the gas tank on that piece of equipment was likely around ¾ full when the fire began.
