Garcia’s nine treys not enough for Collinsville at Valley Head

VALLEY HEAD – Alex Garcia sank nine 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 38 points, but they weren’t enough to lead Collinsville past Valley Head in boys basketball action on Monday night. The Tigers claimed an 81-75 victory.

Austin Ingram led Valley Head with 22 points. Eian Bain rang for 19 points, including three treys. Chandler Johnson had 15 points. Colby Dupree delivered 10 points. Mason Vest came away with seven points. Ethan Webb finished with five points.

Colton Wills added 15 points for the Panthers, including three treys. Eli Griggs and Dawson Cothran both netted six points. Donovan Smith and Fernando Padilla both finished with five points.

Collinsville held a 20-16 advantage at the end of the first quarter and a 34-29 edge at halftime. The Panthers led 51-47 at the end of three quarters before Valley Head outscored Collinsville 34-24 in the fourth quarter.

In the girls game, Collinsville claimed a 56-27 victory.

Tyla Tatum led the Lady Panthers with 14 points. Sophie Wills sank three 3-pointers and had 13 points. Kayla Beene added a pair of treys and had 10 points. Rylee Tillery tallied nine points on three treys. Gracie Griggs finished with seven points.

Jenna McKenzie led the Lady Tigers with 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Sophia Blair added eight points. Ansley Blalock finished with five points.

Collinsville held a 12-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter, then built a 33-8 edge at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 47-16 at the end of three quarters.
