Excessive Rainfall Could Potentially Lead to Flooding Concerns Locally Later in the Week

Forecasters say Alabama could see flooding, heavy rainfall – and a few strong storms over the next few days.  A slow-moving cold front will bring rain to the state with the highest chances for Wednesday through Friday, and Thursday looks to be the wettest one of them all.

According to the National Weather Service, all of the state will be under a risk of flash flooding – primarily on Thursday.

The threat for the strongest storms looks to be confined mainly to south Alabama on Thursday – however a lot of rain will be possible statewide which could raise the risk of flooding in some areas

Northwest Alabama could see the most rain through the end of the workweek – with the forecast showing 3 to 4 inches possible – from Wednesday morning through noon Friday.

The rain is expected to begin to move out of Alabama Friday, but there are increasing chances it could be a factor in the forecast on Sunday.  It’s too soon to say for sure but forecasters are watching trends and could increase rain chances later this weekend.
