Cherokee County girls, Piedmont boys claim wins

PIEDMONT – Mary Hayes Johnson collected 21 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists to lead the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 60-35 basketball win at Piedmont on Monday night.

Audrey Haygood added 18 points five steals and three assists for the Lady Warriors. Carson Coley came away with 11 points and three steals. Ella Garmany pulled seven rebounds.

Emily Farmer led Piedmont with 14. Ava Pope added 11. LeLe Ridley finished with six points.

In the boys game, Alex Odam connected on four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 28 points in the Bulldogs’ 63-54 victory.

Omarion Foster added 14 points for Piedmont. Ishmael Bethel tosses in three treys and finished with nine points. Gavin Lawler had eight points.

Cade Hopper hit five treys and finished with 15 points to lead the Warriors. Malachi Horton added 10 points. Eli Martin rang for six points. Jack Amos and Braden Chandler finished with five points apiece.

The Warriors held a 19-15 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but Piedmont rallied to take a 35-28 halftime lead. The Bulldogs held a 52-39 edge after three quarters.
