Warriors sweep area basketball games at Ashville

ASHVILLE – Cherokee County High School swept a varsity basketball doubleheader at area rival Ashville on Wednesday. The Lady Warriors claimed a 68-19 victory and the Warrior boys earned a 57-48 win.

In the girls game, Mary Hays Johnson delivered 20 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals for the Lady Warriors (13-5). Audrey Haygood and Carson Coley both contributed 14 points. Haygood also had three steals. Ella Garmany came away with seven points and nine rebounds. Audrey Green finished with eight assists.

In the nightcap, Jack Amos led the Warriors (10-9) with 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Cade Hopper added 12 points, all in the fourth quarter. Jackson Neyman netted 10 points. Landon Caldwell finished with five points.

Both Cherokee County teams take on Sand Rock in the Cherokee County Tournament on Friday.
