Leesburg Police were notified around 4:30pm Wednesday after an individual failed to return home when expected.  Police contacted the Leesburg Fire Department, and conducted a ground search for the man, which yielded nothing.

However around 5:30 they located the man on a small island in the Powerhouse area of the lake – Cherokee County Rescue Squad members entered the water at Leesburg Landing, helping to retrieve the subject.

It remains unclear if the man was fishing or exactly what the circumstances were – in regard to his becoming stranded.

There was also no information available on whether or not he received any injuries.
