Spring Garden varsity girls, boys earn top seeds in Cherokee County Basketball Tournament

CENTRE – The Cherokee County basketball coaches met Wednesday evening to determine the pairings for this year’s Cherokee County Tournament.

The tournament will be played Jan. 20-22 at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena. Admission is $6 per day. Sand Rock is this year’s host school.

The action begins next Thursday, Jan. 20, with Cedar Bluff junior varsity boys taking on Spring Garden at 4 p.m., followed by Sand Rock junior varsity boys against Cherokee County at 5:15 p.m.

Varsity action concludes the night between Cedar Bluff and Gaylesville girls and boys at 6:30 and 8 p.m.

Winners from those games take on top-seeded Spring Garden girls and boys next Friday at 4 and 5:15 p.m. respectively. Sand Rock and Cherokee County’s girls and boys battle each other respectively next Friday at 6:30 and 8 p.m.

The tournament concludes next Saturday with the junior varsity boys championship at 4:30 p.m., followed by the girls varsity championship at 6 and the boys varsity championship at 7:30 p.m.
