Town Of Leesburg Holds 1st Meeting Of 2022

The Leesburg Town Council held their first official meeting of 2022 on Monday evening.

Items approved during the meeting included changes to the Employee Handbook, the approval for the fire department to purchase new turnouts in the amount of $9,000 and the approval of the purchase of a new police department patrol vehicle at a cost of $48,070.26. That cost includes the installation of all the necessary accessories/equipment.

A lease agreement was also approved with Floyd Ambulance services.

At the recommendation of Police Chief Jamie Chatman, the council approved the Hire of Officer Seth Hood and also approved a request to send Officer Chase Garrett to a Dog Handler Certification Class at a cost of $4,000. This will also allow Chief Chatman to recertify at no cost.

Also approved was a Resolution granting a one-time pay raise for city employees.
