Motorists Should Exercise Caution; Numerous Reports of Trees Down across Cherokee County Monday Morning

The Highway Department has been traveling roadways checking out road conditions across Cherokee County Monday morning – and have reported no adverse conditions with the exception of some slick spots on County Road 47 around Sand Rock.

The biggest problem remains downed trees, and tree limbs, across the roadways due to high winds and saturated ground conditions.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, there was a single-vehicle wreck around 4:00am with a vehicle leaving Highway 35 outside of Gaylesville and hitting a tree; fortunately, it appears no one was hurt in that mishap.

We’ve had a number of reports of trees being down with several of those on Highway 35 along with County Roads 15 and 60 and a number of other locations – and, we also continue to have reports of some light snowfall in upper elevations,

Motorists should slow down, and exercise extreme caution.
