Winter Weather Update

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE AS OF 4:25 P.M.

A dynamic storm system is set to usher in colder air with a bonus opportunity for snowflakes tonight!
During the 3p hour, light snow & rain/snow mix was reported along parts of Interstate 55 in Mississippi. This transition to wintry weather is expected to move across Central Alabama around a 6p to 3a time frame — communities across the west up first, communities farther east later on.

ACCUMULATIONS: Due to the recent warmth, soil temperature maps show the ground is quite warm at this time. This should tend to limit accumulations; however, in the Winter Weather Advisory area, we could manage to see up to an inch with perhaps a touch more in higher-elevation areas. Keep in mind that amounts will vary across the Winter Weather Advisory area.

IMPACTS: Freezing temperatures will spill in overnight. This could result in slippery road conditions overnight into Monday morning due to runoff from last night’s rain as well as tonight’s precipitation.
