Officials Are Continuing To Survey Damage In Etowah County Following Wednesday Night Storms

At approximately 8:52 Wednesday night, the Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency received a report from the City of Glencoe of structural damage to several buildings in the city. Glencoe Fire Chief, Richard Johnson advised that first responders were enroute to visually inspect the damage and check for injuries. The Emergency Management Agency made notification of this report to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
 
The county was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at the time. EMA personnel examined buildings for damage while first responders looked for anyone injured. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Damage assessments are currently in progress and officials have identified one pole barn, one barn, three homes, Glencoe Middle School, and Glencoe High School that all have varying degrees of damage.
 
Teams are presently in the field today to take photographs, document damage, and provide assistance to those affected.
