TUESDAY’S CHEROKEE COUNTY BOYS BASKETBALL INVITATIONAL ROUNDUP: Austin leads Spring Garden past Cedar Bluff, 61-36

SPRING GARDEN – Cooper Austin sank five 3-pointers and had a game-high 21 points to lead Spring Garden past Cedar Bluff 61-36 in the Cherokee Invitational on Tuesday.

Jacob Welsh added 13 points and John Welsh delivered 11 points. Andrew Floyd contributed six points, and Cam Welsh finished with five points.

Bucky Leek topped Cedar Bluff with 12 points. Connor Flynt connected on two treys and had eight points. Eli McFry finished with seven points.

Cedar Bluff led 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Spring Garden forged ahead at halftime 23-15. The Panthers outscored the Tigers 24-10 in the third to take a 47-25 edge into the fourth.

Handley 66, Faith Christian 64

SPRING GARDEN – Cannon Kyles came away with 25 points to lead the Handley Tigers to a 66-64 victory over Faith Christian on Tuesday.

Tamarious Treadwell connected on a pair of 3-pointers and had 13 points. Maurice Cameron contributed seven points. Jordan West and Rondai Banks both finished with six points.

Thomas Curlee scored a game-high 30 points to lead Faith Christian. Conner Richerzhagen connected on a pair of treys and finished with 21 points.

Handley led 18-13 at the end of the first quarter, but Faith Christian rallied to take a 33-28 edge at halftime. The Lions led 45-43 after three quarters before Handley regained the lead and held on for the win.

Collinsville 40, Haralson County 36

SPRING GARDEN – Colton Wills connected on three 3-pointers and finished with 20 points in leading the Collinsville Panthers to a 40-36 win over Haralson County on Tuesday.

Dawson Cothran added eight points for the Panthers. Alex Garcia finished with seven points.

Boyd and Wood both had 11 points for Haralson County.

Collinsville held an 8-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter and trailed 18-16 at halftime. The Rebels built a 29-23 edge after three quarters before Collinsville rallied to take the win.

Scottsboro 74, Sand Rock 49

SPRING GARDEN – Parker Bell sank three 3-pointers and finished with 17 points to lead Scottsboro to a 74-49 win over Sand Rock on Tuesday.

Kyle Wright collected 13 points. Tyson Sexton added 11 points for the Wildcats. Ethan Roberts came away with 10 points. Tyler Shelton and Jameson Gray both finished with eight points.

Kaden Justice scored a game-high 23 points, including three treys for Sand Rock. Gunner Cox and Bradley had eight and seven points respectively.

Scottsboro jumped out to a 22-10 first-quarter lead, Sand Rock cut its deficit to 31-24 at halftime. Scottsboro maintained a 48-37 lead at the end of three quarters.
