MONDAY’S CHEROKEE GIRLS BASKETBALL INVITATIONAL ROUNDUP: Sand Rock sinks 16 treys in win over Alexandria

SPRING GARDEN – Sand Rock sank 16 3-pointers, including 10 in the first half, in an 83-44 victory over Alexandria on Monday in the Cherokee County Basketball Invitational.

Lanie Henderson connected on six of those treys and scored a game-high 24 points. Katelyn StClair sank five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points. Caley Garrett had a pair of treys and tallied 12 points. Arleigh Beard contributed nine points and Haley Grace Lisenbee scored six points on two 3-pointers.

Jordyn Walker led the Lady Cubs with 15 points, including three treys. Ashley Phillips and Jill Cockrell both rang for seven points.

Alexandria battles Etowah at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Sand Rock plays Haralson County on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Handley 62, Cherokee County 48

SPRING GARDEN – After being tied at 40 at the end of three quarters, Handley outscored Cherokee County 22-8 in the fourth quarter to take a 62-48 victory on Monday.

Takeriauna Mosley led the Lady Tigers with 25 points. Teanna Watts tallied 16 points. Emelia Askew added nine points.

Audrey Green and Ella Garmany topped the Lady Warriors with 15 points apiece. Green connected on a pair of 3-pointers.

Carson Coley contributed seven points. Audrey Haygood finished with five points.

Handley takes on Collinsville at noon on Tuesday.

Collinsville 68, Cedar Bluff 14

SPRING GARDEN – Collinsville jumped out on a 22-0 first-quarter run to cruise past Cedar Bluff 68-14 on Monday morning.

Tyla Tatum tallied 20 points, all in the first half. Kayla Beene added 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Rylee Tillery sank three treys and had nine points, Sophie Wills and Aaniyah Stewart both contributed eight points. Destiny Cothran finished with six points.

Seven Cedar Bluff players had a basket apiece.

Collinsville takes on Handley at noon on Tuesday. Cedar Bluff battles Spring Garden at 6 p.m.

Spring Garden 65, Etowah 20

SPRING GARDEN – Spring Garden jumped out to a 26-4 first-quarter lead and held Etowah scoreless in the second to cruise to a 65-20 win on Monday.

Abbey Steward led the Lady Panthers with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Kayley Kirk collected a pair of treys and had 10 points.

Libby Brown and Maggie Reedy both had eight points. Reedy had a pair of treys. Neely Welsh and Bri Boles both finished with six points. Boles’ points were on a pair of 3-pointers. Abbie Woods finished with five points.

Carlee Barksdale led the Lady Blue Devils with 12 points.

Spring Garden takes on Cedar Bluff on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
