SPRING GARDEN – Bradley Jackson’s 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime missed the mark as Sand Rock dropped a heart breaker to Faith Christian 60-58 on Monday.
It was Faith Christian’s second straight tournament overtime win. The Lions defeated Collinsville 64-61 in overtime on Saturday.
On Monday, Sand Rock and Faith Christian battled to a 52-all tie at the end of regulation. The Wildcats held a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 25-24 edge at halftime. The Lions forged ahead 39-36 at the end of three quarters.
Jackson and Kaden Justice led the Wildcats with 15 points apiece. Jacob Cornejo came away with 14 and Ben Dale delivered nine points.
Thomas Curlee topped the Lions with 26 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Conner Richerzhagen netted 23 points. Jacques Prater finished with six points.
Faith Christian takes on Handley at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Sand Rock battles Haralson County at 1:30 p.m.
Collinsville 59, Cedar Bluff 47
SPRING GARDEN – Colton Wills rang for 24 points and Alex Garcia added 18 in leading the Collinsville Panthers past Cedar Bluff 59-47 on Monday morning.
Dawson Cothran tossed in 10 points and Fernando Padilla finished with seven.
Bucky Leek led Cedar Bluff with 21 points, Connor Flynt sank three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points. MJ Adams added five points.
Collinsville jumped out to a 19-4 first-quarter lead and held a 32-16 advantage at the end of the first half. The Panthers held a 45-29 edge after three quarters.
Collinsville clashes with Haralson County at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Bluff plays Spring Garden at 7:30 p.m.
Cherokee County 80, Handley 54
SPRING GARDEN – Jack Amos led four Cherokee County Warriors in double figures with 23 points, including three 3-pointers, in an 80-54 victory over Handley on Monday.
Jaden Wilson rang for 18 points. Cade Hopper also sank three treys and had 13 points. Landon Caldwell contributed 10 points. Malachi Horton finished with six points.
Rondai Banks led the Tigers with 11 points. Terrance Tucker added nine points. Tamarious Treadwell and Jordan West both netted six points. Quadae Lewis finished with five points.
The Warriors led at each of the quarter breaks. They held a 12-11 edge at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 36-27 at halftime. The Warriors blew the game open in the third with a 56-38 advantage.
Handley takes on Faith Christian on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
Scottsboro 69, Spring Garden 56
SPRING GARDEN – Scottsboro connected on 11 3-pointers, including nine in the first half, to help sink Spring Garden 69-56 on Monday.
Seth Whitmire led the Wildcats with 17 points. Parker Bell rang for 16, including three treys. Tyson Sexton tallied 12 points. Kyle Wright came away with 10 points, including two 3-pointers. Ethan Roberts connected on a pair of treys and finished with six points.
Cooper Austin and Jacob Welsh led Spring Garden with 12 points apiece. John Welsh added 10 points. Andrew Floyd connected on two 3-pointers and had nine points. Cam Welsh finished with eight points.
Scottsboro jumped out to a 17-6 first-quarter lead and held a 34-23 edge at halftime. The Wildcats led 57-43 at the end of three quarters.
