Mrs. Sybol Snead Ellis age 94 of Centre went home to be with her Lord December 18th 2021.
A Praise home going Celebration Service will be 11 AM Tuesday December 21st at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvyn Salter and Rev. Eddie Nation officiating
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Andy Ellis, Randy Laney, Roger Laney, Hasty Laney, Brian Snead, Brent Snead, Cord Sachs and Dr. Kim Salmons.
Survivors include son, Rev. Eric Ellis and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Ellis; brothers, Hughard and P.L. Snead; sisters, Olga McCord and Alline Laney.
Mrs. Ellis was a native of Cherokee County and the daughter of the late Rolon and Vivian Smith Snead of the Forney community.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Forney and moved to Centre at ten years of age when her father was elected Probate Judge. She graduated from Auburn University in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration, and her first job was at Cedar Bluff Bank. She also worked at Cherokee County Bank and the Cherokee County Mental Health Department. Her most joyous working years were teaching kindergarten children in her home and being involved in her family’s grocery business, Big E Supermarkets.
Mrs. Ellis had a vivacious personality and enjoyed socializing with her many friends. She was the last surviving charter member of Centre’s Twilight Club, long-time member of Thursday night Bridge Club, Thursday morning Bonco group, and a retired B-Team Angel
Mrs. Ellis was a member of Centre First Baptist Church, including the Lena Snead Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Group.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be given to Centre First Baptist Church Building Fund 300 East Bypass Centre, Al. 35960.
The family extends gracious thanks to the staff at Cherokee Village and Cherokee Health and Rehab where Mrs. Ellis resided for last 7+ years and also to the staff of Southern Care Hospice.
