Collinsville girls, boys fall short to Sardis

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville basketball teams fell short to visiting Sardis on Friday night. The Panther girls lost a heartbreaker 53-51, while the Panther boys fell 58-43.

In the girls game, Tyla Tatum sank three 3-pointers and finished with 26 points. Sophie Wills and Rylee Tillery tallied nine and six points respectively. Kayla Beene and Gracie Griggs both finished with five points.

Jayda Lacks led the Lady Lions with 22 points. Belle Trammell tallied 10 points, including three treys. Saydi Rutledge and McKenzie Cullom both connected on a pair of treys and finished with six points.

Collinsville built an 18-10 lead after one, but Sardis tied the game at 22 at halftime, then forged ahead 38-32 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Lions held on by a basket for the final.

The Lady Panthers play Alexandria in the Cherokee Invitational at Spring Garden on Saturday at 9 a.m.

In the boys game, Colton Wills scored a game-high 20 points, but they weren’t enough for the Panthers.

Dawson Cothran rang for 12 points. Alex Garcia and Jordan Coker finished with six and five points respectively.

Kason Moore led Sardis with 18 points. JJ Anderson and Eli Morton both netted 10 points. Luke Martin finished with eight points.

Collinsville held an 11-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter and a 20-15 lead at halftime. Sardis took a 35-32 edge after three quarters and outscored the Panthers 23-11 in the fourth for the final.

The Panthers play Faith Christian in the Cherokee Invitational at Spring Garden on Saturday at 10:30 a.
