Message from Governor Kay Ivey

A MESSAGE FROM GOVERNOR IVEY

Fellow Alabamians,

As we near Christmas and approach the new calendar year, we are truly reminded each day how fortunate we are to call Alabama home. As governor one of the greatest things I witness is watching how our people respond in difficult times, celebrate each other’s victories and come together to ensure that future generations of Alabamians have an even greater place to call home.

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of spending some time at the Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch, which as you may recall, experienced a tragic loss last summer on I-65 when returning from their beach trip. While I know many of us continue praying for their healing, we can be so inspired by their tremendous strength and the unified response we saw after that heartbreaking accident that took eight young lives far too soon. From the first responders on the scene to Alabamians across the state – folks came together and asked what they could do to help. That is what this state is all about, and I know that each and every one of you will continue to show the world that they can count on us in Alabama. This Christmas Season let us be reminded to share the light of God with others and ask ourselves what we can do to better our communities and our Sweet Home Alabama.

My goal as governor is to ensure that Alabama remains a great place to call home, not just today, but for years and decades to come. We have momentum on our side right now. From our nation-leading economic comeback to our success in fighting the overreaching, un-American Biden vaccine mandates to making improvements to our state’s roads, bridges and port through Rebuild Alabama, we are positioning ourselves for an even more prosperous tomorrow. At the end of the day, ensuring Alabama’s children can all have a quality education will always be of the utmost importance. I will continue doing all I can as governor to make sure we accomplish this in the coming years. I encourage all of you to tune into my state of the state address coming up on January 11 as I lay out priorities to ensure that Alabama’s best days are ahead of us.

To close, I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas, as well as a blessed and happy 2022. I am filled with hope for our future, and I appreciate your confidence, support and prayers.

Sincerely,

Governor Kay Ivey
