Trenton Man In Federal Custody on Drug Trafficking Charge After Being Arrested by DeKalb County Authorities

A Trenton, Georgia man is in now in Custody after being indicted on a Federal Charge of Trafficking Methamphetamine, that following his arrest by members of the DeKalb County Narcotics & Interdiction Team.

According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden, the case began in November of last year (2020), when an Interdiction Agent conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 near Sulphur Springs; over the course of the traffic stop, two ounces of Methamphetamine, two ounces of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia was located.

Gordon Randall Bethune, 60 of Trenton, was placed under arrest and charged locally with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug, Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, and with the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On December 2nd this year (2021) – a DeKalb County Narcotics Agent assigned to the FBI’s Northeast Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force, presented that case in front of a Federal Grand Jury – where an indictment was obtained for the federal charge of Trafficking Methamphetamine; the DeKalb County Narcotics unit with the assistance of the FBI Northeast Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force – and the Dade County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bethune on the federal warrant, and he was then transferred to the U.S. Marshall’s Office and taken into Federal Custody.
