A fire in October at Mount Vernon Mills in Trion is still under investigation; the blaze back on October 30th brought in more than 100 firefighters from Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. State Insurance & Fire Commissioner John King, is currently offering a reward in the amount of $10,000 for information regarding the suspicious fire. Meanwhile cleanup has begun at the mill. Last week professional fire recovery teams were on-site.
According to the Georgia State Fire Marshal, the fire was deemed arson and it caused millions of dollars worth of damage to the mill – which has been in operation for one hundred-eighty-one years. Anyone with any information on that fire is urged to call 1-800-282-5804
