Candidate for DeKalb County Sheriff Facing Charges of Impersonating an Officer and Computer Tampering / UPDATE

A candidate running for Sheriff of DeKalb County stands charged with impersonating an officer, according to court records.

Terry Wayne Wadsworth, age 57 of Collinsville, has been indicted on both a charge of Impersonating a Peace Officer and Computer Tampering.   He was arrested on Friday (December 3rd) by the State Bureau of Investigations.  He was booked in at the DeKalb County Detention Center; however WEIS Radio News has been informed that the Sheriff’s Office was NOT involved with that arrest, nor the investigation.  Reportedly, he has been released after making bond of $1,000.

He was indicted November 18th by a DeKalb County Grand Jury, with that indictment stating that Wadsworth – “falsely pretended to be a peace officer – and did act in that capacity” adding he illegally obtained information from the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center, which collects and stores criminal records for law enforcement.

Arraignment for Wadsworth has been set for February 10th (2022).
