Geraldine too much for Collinsville girls, boys

GERALDINE – Collinsville dropped a varsity basketball doubleheader at Geraldine on Tuesday evening. The Lady Panthers lost a heartbreaker 44-41, while the Panther boys came up short in a 72-58 decision.

In the girls game, Tyla Tatum led the Lady Panthers with 23 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Kayla Beene added 13 points. Gracie Griggs finished with five points.

Gracie Johnson topped the Lady Bulldogs with 21 points, including a pair of treys. Shelby Trester tallied 10 points.

Collinsville led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Geraldine surged out in front 28-21 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs maintained a 38-33 advantage after three quarters.

In the boys game, Alex Garcia topped Collinsville with 28 points, including four 3-pointers. Dawson Cothran collected 17 points.

Luke Henderson finished with six points.

Colt Lusher scored a game-high 29 for the Bulldogs. Lucas Bryant added 17. Connor Johnson contributed 13 points, and Redick Smith finished with nine points.

Geraldine led 27-11 at the end of the first quarter and held a 50-29 edge at halftime. The Bulldogs were in front 65-41 after three quarters.

Collinsville hosts Glencoe on Saturday.
