Warriors split area basketball doubleheader at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE – The Cherokee County Warrior basketball teams split a Class 4A, Area 10 varsity basketball doubleheader at Jacksonville on Tuesday. The Lady Warriors claimed a 52-38 victory, but the Warrior boys dropped a 93-72 decision in the nightcap.

In the girls game, Mary Hayes Johnson topped the Lady Warriors (5-1) with 13 points. Ella Garmany added 10 points and Audrey Green finished with nine points.

In the boys game, Jack Amos scored a game-high 25 points, including a 10-of-11 performance from the free-throw line for the Warriors (4-2). Jaden Wilson collected 15 points. CJ Gresham added 10 points, and Cade Hopper had nine points on three 3-pointers.

John Broom led the Golden Eagles with 20 points. Caden Johnson and Devin Barksdale both netted 14 points. Cade Phillips came away with 10 points and Julian Hill had nine points on three treys.
